About us
Brekko Camping has existed for over 80 years and was first run by Per and Kari Brekko. In 1950 the farm and the campsite were transferred to their son Knut and his wife Astrid. From 1991 until 2010 it was run by Sissel-Iren and Torleiv Brekko. The place is now owned by SIS Utleie AS, which will continue the camping operations.
At first the place consisted only of a small clearing down by the river that was not arable land. There tourists could set up their tent or combicamp. Gradually, some of the arable land was also put into use, but only after the grass had been cut at Midsummer. An outhouse and a water tap with water from the stream were as close as one could get to today’s sanitary facilities.

Timber from our own forest
In the late 1960s the first cabins were built using timber from our own forest. The first four cabins were set up on the upper side of highway Rv 7. In 1982 these four cabins were lifted by crane and moved down to the other cabins. Cabins 5–8 were built where they stand now, in the period 1971‑73. A little later the sanitary facilities were also expanded with showers and washbasins.
We have many regular guests who come back year after year. Several of our regular guests were here for the first time together with their parents and grandparents.
We place great emphasis on the site having a personal atmosphere, and we try our best to ensure that you as a guest will have a pleasant stay. We take pride in making sure that it is always as nice on the site as we expect to find when we ourselves go on holiday.
If there’s something you’re wondering about just get in touch; we can help with most things, except the weather and your own mood.
Welcome!
